Kamaole Beach Park III is one of the nicest beaches on Maui. There are better beaches for just swimming, or just snorkeling, or just boogie boarding, but I doubt there is a better beach to offer everything and of good quality. Maybe because of this it’s a very popular place with the locals.
The beach slopes gently to the ocean and is suitable even for smallest kids. It is divided in two parts by lava rocks. The part on the left of the rocks – the smaller part – is more protected and usually has smaller waves. The main beach – on the right of the rocks – is a decent boogie boarding and swimming beach. The dividing rocks is an excellent place to teach young kids to snorkel in the calm seas of the morning time. During low tide there are small tide pools to explore. Better snorkeling and tide pools are at the north end of the Kamaole Beach III, where it is divided by lava rocks from Kamaole Beach II. As always, the best and safest snorkeling is in the morning where the ocean is calm. There is a big grassy area between Kamaole Beach III and South Kihei road – a great place to have a picnic, to fly kites, to watch sunset, to meet locals and their pets (especially for those of you missing you own). Other amenities include a lifeguard tower, restrooms, fresh water showers and picnic benches. Nearby Resorts: |
