Saigon Cafe – Wailuku

By Elena Kounitski, August 22, 2010 @ 9:34 pm
We found this restaurant on our way home through Wailuku after driving around West Maui. I was looking through the “50 Thrifty Maui Restaurants book” and decided to give this one a try. It is classified as a Vietnamese restaurant with lots of vegetarian choices. Being a vegan, I am always looking for some veggies.

It was very difficult to find. The address says it is located on Main Street, but it is actually on Kaniela Street under Main Street. We found the restaurant by turning from Main St. right to Central Ave., then right to Vineyard St., then right to Kaniela St. The restaurant didn’t have any sign on it, except a neon Open sign.

We ordered two types of Egg Rolls, Vietnamese Oxtail soup , Sweet and Sour Chicken, Shrimp Clay Pot and Spicy Island Eggplant. The food was DELICIOUS, hearty and very satisfying. It only cost $56, not including tax. I wish we had such a restaurant closer to Kihei! It became a favorite right away, and we’ll certainly plan on visiting Wailuku more often in the future.
